On June 25th we successfully participated in SUAS Competition 2024 in Maryland.
Our team ranked 4th in the Technical Design Review, 4th in Mission Demonstration and 6th in the Global Ranking, and we also received the “Safety Award”, among 69 teams of universities from all around the world, marking our best performance at this competition so far.🥇
Additionally we achieved 1st place among fixed-wing UAVs in the global ranking and were also the only Italian team competing this year.🇮🇹
Beyond the rankings, we are proud to be the first and only team to have flown using its own custom autopilot, and not a commercial one, developed entirely from scratch by our students, from software to hardware.
This achievement concludes a long, challenging, and ultimately rewarding year. Despite the crash of our aircraft months before the competition, our team remained more cohesive and determined than ever. We poured our hearts and souls into the project, working tirelessly until the very last moment before takeoff. ❤️
Thanks to RoboNation for organizing this competition and all the people we met this year, it’s been an unforgettable experience, filled with new friendships and connections with amazing teams from all around the world.
We want to extend our gratitude to Sapienza Università di Roma and all our sponsors:
